Why the mug wins
It is used every morning. The print is sublimated into the glaze at 180°C rather than stuck on, so it goes through daily washing for years without peeling. And at ₹299 it is inside the range where people buy one without deliberating.
One practical note: keep faces away from the handle. A mug is a cylinder, so about 20mm on each side of the handle curves out of comfortable view. A landscape group photo works far better than a portrait one, because the print area is wider than it is tall.
The most under-rated: thirty photo prints for ₹300
Not fashionable, and the thing that most reliably makes older relatives genuinely happy. Most families now have thousands of photographs that exist only on a phone and have never been seen by the grandparents in them. Thirty 4×6 prints, ten rupees each, collected the same evening.
Under ₹200, for quantity
Return gifts for a function, a class, a team. Keychains at ₹149 and cheaper in packs of five or ten; fridge magnets in packs of six; name pencils at ₹149 for ten. All can carry a different photo or name per piece for a small extra charge, worth it for a class set, where the point is that each child gets their own.
What to avoid as a first gift
Illusion lamps are ₹900 and beautiful, but they are a laser etch, so they reproduce line and shape rather than colour and tone. A couple silhouette works; a group photograph does not. Send the photo first and we will tell you honestly whether it will etch well before you order.
