In short

Laser cutting is charged by the length of cut, from 18 rupees per running foot in 3mm acrylic, plus the material. Engraving is 40 rupees per square inch of engraved area. Send a vector file. A photograph of a shape cannot be cut, because the machine follows a line rather than an image.

Acrylic letters for sign boards, name plates, awards and mementos, display stands, temple donor boards and the etched panels inside illusion lamps. Everything here starts from a vector file, and that is the one thing customers most often do not have. A JPG of a logo cannot be cut. It has to be redrawn as lines first.

Cut length means the total distance the beam travels, so an intricate shape costs more than a simple one of the same size. We measure it from your file and quote before starting.

How it works, step by step

  1. Send a vector file

    your side

AI, CDR, DXF, SVG or PDF with real outlines. A JPG or PNG cannot be cut, because the machine follows a path rather than an image. If you only have an image we redraw it for 300 rupees, once.

  2. We measure the cut length and quote

    same day

The quote is cut length plus material. An intricate shape costs more than a plain one of the same size, which surprises people, so we show the figure before starting.

  3. Material selection

    same day

Clear, white, black or coloured acrylic, or MDF where it is going indoors and cost matters more than life. We keep the common sheets in stock.

  4. Cut and finish

    1 to 3 days

Cut, edges cleaned, protective film left on so it arrives unscratched. Peel the film only when it is being fitted.

For flat lettering on a shop board, printed and cut vinyl at 35 rupees per square foot is far cheaper than laser cut letters and reads the same from the road. Laser cut letters earn their cost when they stand off the board.

What people do not expect about laser work

  • Price follows the length of the cut, not the size of the piece. A plain rectangle and an intricate floral panel of the same dimensions can differ by three times, because the beam travels three times as far. Simplifying a design genuinely reduces the bill.
  • A JPG cannot be cut. The machine follows a path, so artwork has to exist as lines rather than pixels. This is the single most common reason a laser job stops before it starts, and redrawing costs 300 rupees once and is then yours forever.
  • Leave the protective film on until the piece is fitted. Acrylic scratches easily and almost every scratch we see arrived between our counter and the wall, not from the machine.
  • Engraved acrylic reads best lit from the edge rather than the face. That is the whole principle behind illusion lamps, and it is worth knowing if you are having an award or a donor panel made.

Frequently asked questions

How much does laser cutting cost in Palakollu?

Eighteen rupees per running foot of cut in 3mm acrylic, 26 in 5mm and 38 in 8mm, plus the material. MDF is 14. Engraving is 40 rupees per square inch of engraved area.

What file do you need for laser cutting?

A vector file, meaning AI, CDR, DXF, SVG or a PDF with real outlines. A JPG or PNG cannot be cut because the machine follows a path rather than an image. We redraw an image into vector for 300 rupees once.

Why is my intricate design more expensive than a simple one?

Because cutting is charged by the distance the beam travels, not by the size of the piece. An intricate panel can cost three times a plain rectangle of the same dimensions. Simplifying the outline genuinely reduces the price.

Can you cut acrylic letters for a sign board?

Yes, and it is most of what the machine does. For flat lettering on a board, printed and cut vinyl at 35 rupees per square foot is cheaper and reads the same from the road. Laser cut letters earn their cost when they stand off the board.

What thickness of acrylic can you cut?

Up to 8mm here. Three millimetre for panels and awards, 5mm for letters and display stands, 8mm for large letters and anything that needs a thick visible edge.

How long does a laser cutting job take?

One to three working days depending on the length of the cut and how much is queued. Simple jobs of a few pieces are often done the next day.
