How to not get your photograph rejected
- Wear a colour that is not white or very pale. Against a white background a white shirt makes your shoulders disappear and some verification systems flag the outline as incomplete. A mid tone shirt is the safest thing you can do.
- No spectacles for an Indian passport. Not tinted, not clear, not pushed up. The rules do not allow glare or frames across the eyes and the officer at the counter will not argue the point with you.
- Ask for the digital copy at the same sitting. Almost every online application now wants a file at a stated pixel size and under a file size cap. Getting it later means a second visit for something that takes us five minutes while you are here.
- Photographs older than six months are commonly rejected for passport and visa work, even when they still look like you. If the last set was taken more than half a year ago, take new ones rather than risking the application.
